I don’t know about you, but I hate wasting food! I avoid throwing out food as much as possible. And I love finding creative ways to use up leftovers. That’s why I was excited to come across this article about using up leftovers.

I want to share with you some of the great ideas from this article – along with some of my own – for using up leftovers so that you can stop wasting food.

Tomato paste. Freeze it for later use, or use it up in a soup, stew or chili. Add a few herbs and spices to top pasta or make a pizza sauce.

Broth or stock. Cook rice or boil potatoes in leftover broth or stock to add flavour.

Rice. Add leftover rice to a soup, stew or casserole. Use it to make rice pudding. Make a quick lunch time salad by adding cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber and peppers, chickpeas or tuna. Drizzle with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Sweetened condensed milk. Drizzle a little over fruit for a simple healthy dessert. Make your own flavoured coffee by replacing your usual cream and sugar with a little sweetened condensed milk.

Breads and buns. Freeze them for later use, or make your own croutons.

Heavy cream. Use up leftover heavy cream to make a cream soup. Or whip it up into fresh whipped cream to top desserts or fruit.

Canned pumpkin. Use leftover canned pumpkin to make a delicious latte, or blended into your smoothie. Add it to your oatmeal, or make pumpkin muffins.
